We perform cold straightening without applying heat by utilizing our purpose-built hydraulic presses, capable of exerting up to 6,000 tonnes of force. Our technique preserves the original metallurgy, making it a trusted permanent class-approved repair solution.

Each straightening project is carefully planned to guarantee lasting results, achieving precision alignment with a maximum deviation of just 0.05 mm.

All shafts are inspected using non-destructive testing before and after cold straightening to ensure there are no cracks

Non-destructive testing (NDT) is a fundamental process in the MarineShaft workshop, ensuring the integrity and quality of components before, during, and after repairs. NDT is essential for detecting cracks and defects in parts that have sustained damage, serving as a vital tool for verifying the reliability of materials.

After every straightening job, a surveyor from the relevant classification society reviews and approves the job. The process is fully documented, and a class certificate is issued to ensure compliance and quality.

In 2021 the ferry M/F Paglia Orba had an unfortunate incident while entering port. The Propeller Equipment was severely damaged. In only 3 weeks, we completed this repair with full class approval.

Case study: Tail Shaft Straightened in Just 8 Days

63-Ton Tail Shaft sent by aircraft from Dubai for urgent Cold Straightening

A vessel in Dubai experienced tail shaft misalignment, causing a minor bend in the aft section, including the bearing journal and cone.

The 63-ton shaft was air-freighted to Denmark and transported by truck directly to our workshop.

Our team performed cold straightening and machining, restoring full alignment within eight days. The shaft was immediately flown back for urgent reinstallation, avoiding the long lead time of manufacturing a new component.
