Welding of Rudder Blade Cones and Other Critical Components

In addition to propeller blade repairs, MarineShaft also performs class-approved welding and build-up of rudder blade cones and other critical rudder components, directly on-site. Our certified welding specialists handle complex geometries and ensure strong, lasting repairs that restore structural integrity. This includes the precision welding of contact surfaces, cones, flanges, and seating areas, executed with complete documentation and in compliance with the requirements of classification societies.

We perform Micro Welding directly on board using portable equipment. This method is ideal for repairing small surface damages without heating or distorting the material.

Case study: On-Site welding

MarineShaft Crossed Continents for an Urgent Propeller Blade Repair

MarineShaft received an urgent call from “Down Under” regarding damage to CPP propeller blades.

After a diver inspection, it became clear that the four propeller blades from M/F Straitsman had sustained extensive damage. The blades were of the Wärtsilä CPP type, made from Alu-Ni bronze.

The job included:

Welding repairs on all four blades
Straightening of one blade
Polishing and balancing

All required crack inspections were carried out before and after welding.
