Welding Specialists Certified Quality

At MarineShaft, we specialize in high-quality welding methods tailored for the repair and reconditioning of marine equipment. We offer class-approved welding procedures to match any task. Our certified welding team works by approved welding procedures.

While advanced techniques such as laser cladding and submerged arc welding (SAW) are carried out at our facilities, we perform a wide range of welding jobs on-site worldwide. Our mobile team of welders is equipped to respond swiftly wherever they are needed.

Our Welding Procedures:

Laser Cladding for fast repair

Submerged Arc Welding Shafts & Rudder stocks

We use submerged arc welding (SAW), a highly efficient welding method, well-suited for significant and critical components, such as rudder stocks, where it is necessary to restore surfaces by applying large volumes of metal quickly. We apply 5 mm per layer.

The automated process ensures consistent quality and high productivity, especially when welding long, straight seams or rotating components.

With solid know-how and specialized equipment, we have the capacity to handle shafts and other rotating components in all sizes. Our large-scale lathes and machining facilities are designed to support precise setup, controlled rotation, ensuring a stable and efficient welding process from start to finish.

NDT Inspection and Process Control

To ensure welding quality and structural integrity, all welds undergo Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) before and after repair. Our inspection procedures detect surface and subsurface defects and are a critical part of our quality assurance process.

We utilize Force Technology for third-party, independent welding inspections.

Positive Material Identification

We also offer Positive Material Identification (PMI) for material verification and selection of appropriate procedure for welding, or material for new part manufacture.

These processes are available both in-house and on-site.

PWHT Services

Controlled Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT)

MarineShaft provides PWHT both in-house and on-site, including pre-heating, tempering, annealing, normalizing, and stress-relieving, to meet exact metallurgical requirements - always in compliance with class and material specifications. We apply heat treatment to critical parts, such as propeller blades, rudder stocks, rudder blades, and similar components, after welding.

Our expertise in heat treatment is trusted across various sectors, including offshore and heavy industry. Recent projects include:

  • Heat treatment of bearing housings for the wind power industry
  • Heat treatment of boiler tubes for thermal power plants
  • Heat treatment of production piping in offshore installations

We ensure precise thermal cycles and full traceability through documented temperature logs.
