MarineShaft manufactures new propeller shafts, tail shafts, intermediate shafts, and rudder stocks tailored to exact requirements. All components are produced in-house using class-approved steel sourced exclusively from reliable European suppliers.

Our machining capabilities include turning, milling, boring and polishing of shafts up to 27 meters in length. We work with high-grade materials, including S355J2, C45, 28Mn6, 34CrNiMo6, 42CrMo4, and duplex stainless steel 1.4462, which meet the demands of both commercial and naval marine applications.

Case Study – Container Vessel suffered broken rudder stock

Urgent Rudder Stock Manufacturing Solved Within 15 Days

When a 294-meter Panamax container vessel suffered a broken rudder stock while waiting to berth in the US, the damage was severe. The rudder blade had dropped half a meter. The decision was made to avoid drydocking and complete an afloat repair instead.

We manufactured:

• New rudder stock Ø750 × 6600 mm
(C-Mn steel) with two shrink-fitted stainless-steel sleeves
• New rudder pintle Ø900 × 2585 mm
(Mn steel) with one shrink-fitted stainless-steel sleeve
• Lower hydraulic nut for rudder stock
• New pintle nut

Thanks to our class-approved raw materials in stock, we could commit to a 15-day delivery.
The new rudder stock and pintle were machined with oversize for final machining on.site.

Case Study: New Propeller Shaft for M/V Oslo Bulk

Efficient Propeller Shaft Manufacturing Completed in 10 Days

During docking in Turkey, the cargo vessel M/V Oslo Bulk 8 required an urgent replacement of her damaged propeller shaft. MarineShaft was entrusted with the job.

Our service engineer measured the old shaft on-site and we prepared a new drawing, which was approved by the classification society together with the selected material. Shaft size: Ø860/300 x 5005 mm.

With the correct raw material already in stock, we began machining immediately after approval. The existing coupling was polished and blue fitted to the new shaft.

The finished shaft was air-freighted back to the vessel within only 10 days.
